Frequently Asked Questions
General FAQs:
How many people can we book for a trike tour?
We have three vehicles in our fleet to cater for 10 passengers. There are two trikes with four passenger seats and one trike with two passenger seats.
Are there any restrictions for passengers?
We cater to everyone between the ages of two and up. Seatbelts must be worn at all times in accordance with New Zealand law, and we have booster seats available for those under 7 years old.
Can you cater to those with a disability or special needs?
Yes! Our trikes are low to the ground and are easily accessible for those in a wheelchair. The rides are safe, stimulating and fun for everyone.
Do we need to wear motorbike helmets?
No, helmets are not required. Our trikes are registered with the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) as cars, not motorbikes, so three-point seatbelts must be worn at all times.
How safe are the trikes?
Your safety is paramount. Our trikes are subject to strict guidelines and are NZTA compliant.
All of our vehicles go in for a full, independent mechanical inspection every six weeks. While this is not a legal requirement, we do it to ensure the safety of our passengers and other road users.
All of our drivers are professional, reliable and hold a 'Passenger Endorsement' license.
Is there anything I need to bring on the trike?
Please wear sunglasses and bring along a warm jacket and raincoat. If you forget, we have glasses and clothing for you to borrow. You won’t want to miss a photo opportunity, so don’t forget your camera.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes. Cancellations are required 24-hours notice.
Do the tours still run when it's raining?
If it's pouring with rain, it’s not much fun taking a ride. However, if it’s just a light shower and you are wearing sunglasses and a raincoat, we can still hit the open road.
Cruise Ship Shore Excursions FAQs:
Where can we find you when we reach the Port of Tauranga?
On Cruise Ship Days we are located on the corner of Salisbury Avenue | The Mall in Mount Maunganui, directly just outside the cruise ship passenger exit.
On all other days, pre-booked tours will depart from Downtown Mount Maunganui as per your booking instructions.
Do I need to pre-book my tour?
To guarantee a seat, we recommend pre-booking. However, you are welcome to show up and take a tour if there are spots available.
Do tours return with ample time until my ship departure?
Absolutely. We aim to finish one hour before your cruise ship departs. Our last passengers of the day get dropped at the port gates.
Will the guides tell us about the area?
Our drivers are also your guide. They conduct an informative drive around downtown Mount Maunganui and Tauranga City covering local knowledge, history and culture.
Our drivers will also be able to provide additional information at the various photo-op stops and answer any questions you may have.
